Supported Learning at Petroc

As the main feeder college for Lampard Community School, Petroc College is where majority of our cohort go to for their Post 16 provision. So, we will give you some further information about this.

Many students transition onto the Preparation for Adulthood Course.

Preparation for Adulthood is a Supported Learning course of one or two years, specially tailored to meet the educational and support needs of Pre-Entry and Entry Level learners. Preparation for Adulthood has two pathways to support students in achieving their potential in life and work.

Pathway A focuses on equipping students with the skills they need to become increasingly independent and contributing to society through volunteering and community based enterprises.

Pathway B focuses on supporting students into Further Education and employment as well as developing skills for independent living and community involvement. Students on Pathway B choose vocational options from a choice, including motor vehicle, hairdressing, woodwork, catering, business administration and conservation. Students develop employability skills through these options and these options can be extended to work experience in one of these areas.

This pathway could lead to progression onto a mainstream Level 1 study programme or onto an adult internship programme to pursue the goal of employment.

Other course that our students have transitioned onto are Careers Skills, Entry to Employment and mainstream study programmes.

Please be aware that Petroc has a North Devon campus (based in Barnstaple) and a Mid Devon campus (based in Tiverton) both offering supported learning routes so, depending on your location, this may help to inform you decision.

Please find below a very useful document about SEND at PETROC. This has further information about the courses available.
