The Lampard Community School

Remembrance Service

On 10th November, some of the Lower School went to Rock Park for the Remembrance Service. We listened to Reverend Cathy talk about her Grandad, who looked after the horses in Flanders in WWI. Her other Grandad was an air raid warden in WW2 and helped to make sure that people were safe in the air raid shelters when the siren sounded.

We listened to the bagpipes being played, the bugler played The Last Post, and then we had 2 minutes' silence to remember all the people who had died as a result of the conflict. There were lots of different schools represented, and each school had made a poppy wreath to lay at the War memorial.

Dylan and Hope from Umber class had the honour of doing this and showed respect as they bowed their heads before and after placing the wreath with the others.
