The Lampard Community School

Head Teacher's Welcome

Lampard Community School is a special school situated in North Devon. We cater for children aged 5-16 with complex needs, all of whom have speech, language, communication and interaction needs (SLCN) and are working significantly below age related expectations. We are one of 10 Devon special schools within the SENtient Co-operative Foundation Trust. All of our students have Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs).

Our school aim is for our students to go on to lead as independent, fulfilling and happy lives as possible as adults and to gain as many of the skills needed to do that during their time with us. Every day counts. Through our skills-focused curriculum, our dedicated team of staff support our students to be as functional and as independent as possible. We put great emphasis on developing our students’ social communication skills which help them to go on to make some good friendships and to enjoy being part of the school community.

We make sure that we get to know our students well and we strive to provide the right kind of provision for them to achieve their potential. We have a person-centred approach to learning and we value our very positive relationships with students, parents and carers. 'Pupils are happy at The Lampard Community School. There are good relationships between staff and pupils throughout the school. Pupils value the way staff support and care for them. Many parents comment positively on the school. One said, “It has changed our lives.”.' OFSTED January 2023. We work collaboratively with parents, carers and with a variety of different agencies to help us to provide the most effective and appropriate provision. The recent Ofsted report identified our commitment in ensuring that outcomes continue to improve for our students.

As a school community we encourage all of our members to set high standards in whatever they do and we celebrate all achievements. Whilst our students have a wide range of different needs they also have a wonderful mix of talents, interests and personalities. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and when learning with us, children are cared for, valued, challenged and supported to achieve the very best they can.

When our year 11 students leave Lampard they are more confident, many are considerably more independent, and they are well-prepared to take on new opportunities and challenges. 'Leaders want pupils to grow into successful adults and become independent learners. They are ambitious for all.' OFSTED January 2023.

We are very proud of our school and hope that our website will provide you with a valuable insight into everyday life and also special events that highlight our work.
