Overview of Options
ANIMAL CARE
You will:
- Have the chance to experience Animal Care on a working farm.
- Learn about the care of sheep, pigs, horses, alpacas, goats and chickens as well as some domestic (pet) animals.
Additional information: We go offsite to Futures Farm for this option. Students get to do this option for 1 x Term.
Accreditation: Students work towards WJEC Entry Level Pathways units to gain the different Entry Level Pathways qualifications.

- An Introduction to Animal Care.

ART
You will:
- Learn Art vocabulary, try out different techniques and use a range of materials to produce your own graphic style artwork.
- Learn how to evaluate your work and study a range of different artists.
Accreditation: Students work towards WJEC Entry Level Pathways units to gain the Creative, Media and Performing Arts qualification. Students who are working at Level 1 or above are able to work towards the Bronze Arts Award (Trinity College).

- Graphic Design.
- Painting and Drawing.
- Present an Art & Design Evaluation.
- Plan, Advertise and Present an Art and Design Exhibition.

BUSINESS and ENTERPRISE
You will:
- Learn about the skills, knowledge and qualities needed in business or enterprise.
- Learn about administration, marketing and business IT.
Accreditation: Students work towards units from the NCFE qualification in Occupational Studies for the Workplace.

- Working in an Office

CHILD CARE
You will:
- Learn about family relationships, pregnancy and birth.
- Learn important facts about looking after babies and young children and practise your new skills

- The Family
- Preparation for pregnancy and birth of the baby
- Contraception Information
- An Introduction to Childcare

DRAMA
You will:
- Learn to use your voice and your body to show different emotions and characters.
- Improve your acting skills by improvising scenes.
- Plan and prepare for a performance in front of an audience.
Accreditation: Students work towards WJEC Entry Level Pathways units to gain the Creative, Media and Performing Arts qualification. Students who are working at Level 1 or above are able to work towards the Bronze Arts Award (Trinity College).

- Using the voice in a dramatic context
- Contributing to a Dramatic improvisation

- Contribute to the creation of a group drama presentation

ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
You will:
- Learn more about our natural environment, the ways in which it is endangered and the effects of change across the globe.
- Learn about natural hazards and their impact on communities.
- Learn how to protect our planet.
Accreditation: Students work towards WJEC Entry Level Pathways units to achieve accreditation in this subject. Students also have the opportunity to work towards The John Muir award in this subject.

FOOD STUDIES
You will:
- Learn how to shop for, prepare, cook and serve a range of different foods and meals.

You will:
- Learn about life in France.
- Learn to listen to, speak, read and write simple French words and phrases

- Using French to discuss work

HAIR & BEAUTY
You will:
- Learn about how to look after your hair, skin and nails.
- Find out what products to use and practise techniques in class and a salon.
Additional information: We sometimes go off-site for this option to allow us to use specialist facilities.

You will:
- Learn about new topics in History and Geography.
- Improve your research and investigation skills.
- Present your findings for an audience

- Responding to a Major Tectonic Event (Volcanic Eruption, Earthquake or Tsunami)

LAND STUDIES
You will:
- Learn about planting and growing a range of plants, fruit and vegetables in the school garden.
- Learn about land maintenance and conservation.

You will
- Learn about different media genres like film, advertising and publishing.

You will:
- Experience a range of different trades and learn essential skills such as carpentry, painting and decorating, basic bricklaying and basic plumbing.
