Searching for Silence – LYFTA 🌊

On 23rd January 2026, Torridge class had the wonderful opportunity to watch LYFTA, a captivating exploration of sound in the underwater world of Colombia. Kerri Segar took us on an adventure, searching for the sounds of sea creatures. With the help of a special device, she listened to the recordings from beneath the waves.

She heard a whale and a shrimp. The noise that the shrimp made sounded like oil on a stove pan! When the shrimp opened its claw, it made a bubble and when the bubble popped it made a loud bang. One lady thought it sounded like rain. Riley enjoyed LYFTA because it sounded fun and the noise from the machine was amazing. Oliver liked the sea turtle. Annalise liked the whale sound. Christian liked the shrimp sound like a frying pan. Torridge like learning about the world.
